About Enfiaré
One mission, built to hold
Enfiaré is a California public-benefit nonprofit working to make homelessness history through housing connection, peer support, and policy at the scale the problem needs. This page is the honest account of how the work is put together: where it came from, how the four divisions fit, who sits on the board, and the technology being built underneath it all. We are at concept-and-pilot stage, and we say so plainly, because that candor is the credibility.
Where this began
From a hard place, then roots for others
The work starts from a sentence the whole organization answers to: the small one, still becoming, finds beauty in themselves, and turns into roots for others. A foundation to stand on, a self worth becoming, and the strength in time to become someone else’s foundation. That arc is not a slogan here. It is the lived order of recovery, and it sets how every program treats the person in front of it.
Enfiaré was founded on a plain conviction: a person without a home is a neighbor waiting on a door that should have been open already. The systems meant to help tend to fail at predictable moments, a hospital discharge, a release from custody, a young person aging out of care. We exist to open the door, to walk with people through it, and to change the rules that kept it shut.
The name
Enfiaré · to breathe into · to inspire · to cause to expand
A breath given to something so it can rise. To put life back into a person, and to help a life expand past the place it was trapped.

The four-quadrant operating system
Four arms, held as one diamond
The emblem is one square holding four colors, and the organization is built the same way. Each quadrant carries a distinct kind of work, and none of them stands alone. Together they make a whole that can reach a person in crisis, fund the help, change the rule, and keep the soul of the thing honest.
Change the rules that make homelessness
An action tank fusing research, frontline evidence, and direct advocacy. Roughly fifty Congress-ready bill outlines and a cost-of-inaction case, aimed at the rules that keep people outside.

The keystone. The values, the governance, and the widest horizon. Contributors become Stewards with a real path to a seat at the table, co-ownership of the mission rather than financial equity.
Join the mission →The values under the structure
Four values run under the four divisions, and the name carries them: Ka·Zu·Mi·Zi. Ka, possibility: the belief that hard things are solvable, and the engineering nerve to try. Zu, the plan: built on a clear and verified picture, so decisions are made on what is real. Mi, beauty and dignity: in how people are treated and how things are built for them. Zi, foundation: housing as the ground floor a life is rebuilt on. Every initiative is meant to answer to all four.
That is the name read as architecture. Read the other way it is the sentence at the top of this page, the small one who turns into roots for others. Both readings are kept, because a plan and a pattern are not the same tool. The studio page sets them out side by side.
Governance
A small board, and a clean line of trust
Enfiaré is governed by its board of directors. The organization is currently structured without statutory voting members, which keeps decision-making clear and the filings simple while federal recognition is outstanding. The Steward Assembly, where contributors gain a voice, begins as advisory and is answered by the board in writing, with statutory membership a deliberate, counsel-reviewed step for later.
An honest frame
The four-division structure is the plan we are growing into, not a description of current headcount. A healthy plan leans on no single stream: AR earns unrestricted dollars, EN and É raise through grants and covenant commitments, and FI does both. We tell funders exactly where we stand, because a claim that evaporates under one question costs more than it earns.

Instruments that carry the mission
Foundations and Infrastructure builds the tools that connect a person to help and keep the knowledge behind that help honest. They share a naming pattern, short acronyms for the engines, and a single rule above all of them: a human is always one step away, and the machine never makes the call that belongs to a person.
The resource atlas. A working map of housing and services, shippable now, covering Contra Costa County first. Each record carries its own source and its own date rather than one blanket promise. Records checked against the provider's own website say so and link it; the rest say listed, and mean it. It is the part of the work you can use this minute, on the Get Help page. More on THRESHOLD
The Service Access and Guidance Engine: the verified knowledge backbone. The rule it is being built around is that no record enters the store without a named source and a last-checked date, so the guidance a person receives rests on what is real rather than what an algorithm guessed. More on SAGE
A care-navigation companion that speaks with warmth and asks the more useful question rather than echoing back. It is a doorway, not a room, always a transition to a person. It never promises a bed, a rescue, or a dispatch, because a human makes those calls. More on SAVIE
The Single Autonomous Locomotive Terminus: a compact dwelling that rides low, then raises and locks into a full habitat, with a real mailable address at its center. The honest engineering state is laid out on the mission page. More on SALT
A self-healing data loop that learns where help is needed, and never who needed it. De-identified signals only, with a human review queue before anything is allowed to enter the knowledge store. More on SOIL
Frontline Assistance, Mentorship and Empowerment: the human program the instruments serve, and the one entry here that is people rather than software. It belongs to FI alongside the rest, because a peer beside someone is infrastructure too. Peer support and mentorship, because the technology exists to put a person next to a person, not to replace one. More on FAME
How the technology is governed
Built to be trustworthy, not just clever
The design rests on four commitments held as fixed character rather than tunable settings. The tools are grounded in verified information and answer from sources, never invention. A human stays in the loop on every decision that carries weight. The depth of an instrument’s reasoning scales with the stakes of the moment. And the system is never permitted to optimize against its own honesty, the way a student must not learn to fool the test instead of learning the material.
A doorway, not a destination
The clearest way to say it: SAVIE is always a step toward human support, never the end of the line. The crisis rules are the mission made operational at its smallest scale, one person and one machine, with a person always close at hand.
For anything urgent, the Get Help page carries verified crisis lines that work with or without this technology, and they work with JavaScript turned off.
Beyond the first problem
These instruments are built for homelessness first, because that is the work in front of us. The harder aim underneath them is a way of building advanced AI that stays honest and keeps a person in charge, an approach meant to reach other pressing problems as the tools mature and earn the trust to carry them. We are stating what we intend and what we are testing, not what is finished.
